A CRITICAL ENVIRONMENT CHALLENGE

Image
by: Briana M. Reales  Deforestation, the clearing of forests for other land uses, stands as one of humanity's most pressing environmental concerns.Driven primarily by agricultural expansion, illegal logging, and urban development, it's impacts are far-reaching and severe.Forest are vital carbon sinks absorbing vast amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Their introduction replace this stored carbon, exacerbating climate change. Beyond climate, deforestation critically compromises biodiversity. Countless species of plants and animals depend on forest ecosystem of survival, and their habitats vanish with each fallem tree, pushing many toward extinction.Furthermore, the loss of tree cover lead the soil erosion, reduce water quality, and increase risks of natural disaster like landslide and flood. Addressing deforestation requires a multi-faceted approach, sustainable plan management practices, stricter enforcement of environment laws, and the promotion of reforestation and afforestat...

Corruption in the Philippines

Image
By: Rich Victoria   Corruption in the Philippines is one of the biggest problems the country is facing. An example of this is the misuse of public funds, since some officials may steal and overprice government projects. Many fake or unfinished projects are also reported. A lot of these officials use vote buying to win elections. There are also political dynasties, which allow power to stay within the same families, increasing the chances of abuse. A solution to these problems is voting for the right leaders and teaching children how to choose good candidates so that the younger generation can help minimize corruption in the future. Citizens can also participate in protests to call for the end of political dynasties. The government should strictly implement its laws and require all government offices to publish their budgets, contracts, and project statuses online where the public can easily monitor them. They should establish special anti-corruption courts with faster pr...

CORRUPTION IN FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT

Image
By:Kimmy Suple      Flooding is the most serious problem in the philippines.Every Year, heavy rains and typhoon cause river to overflow and communities to be submerged in water. While natural disaster cannot be avoided, the damage becomes worse because of corruption in flood control project.Instead of protecting people, some project fail due to misuse of public funds.Corruption happens when government officials or contractors house money meant for public project for personal gain.In flood control, this may involve using low-quality materials, overpricing construction costs,or leaving projects unfinished. As a result, drainage system easily clog, pipes collapse, and flood barriers becomes weak.Communities than suffer from damaged homes, lost livelihoods, and even loss of lives. ...

Understanding the Effect of Deforestation

Image
By: Princess Sara Deforestation in the Philippines has existed as an environmental problem for many years because it endangers the country's ecological diversity and its natural assets. The nation used to have extensive tropical rainforests but now experiences severe forest loss because of logging activities and the growth of agriculture and mining operations and the spread of urban areas. The combination of legal and illegal logging activities has resulted in a substantial decrease of ancient forests. The Philippines depends on forest resources to control soil erosion and manage water systems because it experiences typhoons and exists within the Pacific Ring of Fire. The absence of sufficient forest resources makes communities more susceptible to natural disasters which include floods and landslides. Deforestation in the Philippines creates environmental problems which produce both immediate and distant negative effects. The country serves as a global biodiversity hotspot ...

The Peak Of Corruption

Image
By: Arvenus Austero                  Corruption has been a long-standing problem in the Philippines. It affects many parts of society, including government offices, public services, and even local communities. Because of corruption, money that should be used for schools, hospitals, and roads is sometimes lost or misused. This makes it harder for poor families to receive the help they need. As a result, trust in public officials often becomes weak.   One well-known politician who has faced suspicion of corruption is Joseph Estrada. He was accused of receiving illegal gambling payoffs during his time as president. In 2007, he was found guilty of plunder by a special anti-corruption court. However, he was later granted executive clemency by his successor. His case became one of the most famous corruption trials in the country.   Corruption in the Philippines continues to be a challenge today. Many ...
